Best among equivalents ...

I had a first platform publishing reviews of books, experiences etcetera that I had 'consumed' or indulged - this was over at Bloglines.com, but I found the interfaces over at that platform a bit counter-intuitive (this is of course my own view) so I decided to start running this blog using Blogspot - which runs a close second to WordPress as a publishing and learning platform - (again, only my own opinion). The plan is to syndicate the same content across both platforms and then follow this plan wherever it might lead. Nothing has changed - just that my feeling to post ordinary or mere views or properly, 'reviews' is now supported by a 'paid for' domain name. That is ... http://www.merereviews.com and maybe I can grow this publishing ambition a bit yet.
The subject of today's first post on Merereveiws on Blogspot is the free Internet/Anti-virus product from Comodo. See here banner/badge/logo ...

Firewall

As a baseline basic offering, this product does more than the bare minimum that such security products do (such as the built-in Windows firewall) and thus as a home user, I am totally happy with the product. I am recommending to my friends and all readers of the blog as something they might install as they begin to take their security seriously. This is not a new product as such - but it still suffers entrenched competition from strong brands - AVG (the other free one, which is half as good), SVG and a good number of others.
I tell you what I like about this - it is the way in which it combines practically limitless information about your 'security space' in one interactive interface following a web page metaphor. And this is what clinches the argument for me, it qualifies as a true learning platform - for everyone really curious about what the hoopla! about security concerns are about (funny phrasing) - this product does volumes. Clicking on the icons across the top presents various bits and aspects of my 'security space' in one interface (as in - it does not launch competing daughter windows and such - it just tabs across). It offers such customization of said 'security space'to my heart's content. This contrasts with various other baseline products that simply clutter the desktop with little launching modules (Norton, Mcafe, SVG, PCtools - all suffer from this drawback - the versions that I have used, that is). Comodo's help files/online manual can really teach you more than a bit about PC security. There's a forum for users to share and comment (This feature is not unique to Comodo).
There are articles all over the Web offering proper benchmark reports of the product when tested and run against all its peers - so will not go into them here. Do Check [here] and [here] for such logs.
But here I have told you what I do like about this product. It ain't stock ... but hey buy! buy! buy! And hold! ... but if you will not, then - get the free version which is so good. Install it over the baseline on Windows platforms (For all PC's out there). Here's a trusty shot of said interface here ...
